Meet the Administrator
Mr. Sours was appointed Administrator of the Georgia Governor’s Office of Consumer Protection in January, 2011. As Administrator, he is vested with the authority to monitor, investigate and assess penalties against businesses for unfair and deceptive consumer transactions.
Mr. Sours is a graduate of the College of William and Mary (A.B., Government and Economics), where he was a President’s Aide and Editor in-Chief of the student newspaper; and graduated with honors from its Marshall-Wythe School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review and a Lord Botetourt Scholar. He later received an L.L.M. from Georgetown University, and is a member of the Virginia and Georgia Bars.
He practiced law in the Atlanta area beginning in 1973, founding his own firm in 1979 with two colleagues; specialized in counseling, negotiation, litigation and alternative dispute resolution in the areas of construction, government contract, commercial real estate, and labor and employment law, serving as an advocate, arbitrator and mediator. He was selected for ten consecutive years as a “Georgia Superlawyer" by Atlanta Magazine; his biography appears in "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in American Law" and "Who's Who in American Politics."
Mr. Sours has been an Adjunct Professor in dispute resolution and construction law in the School of Construction Management at Southern Polytechnic State University, and for twenty years previously was an Adjunct Professor in the Building Construction Department at Georgia Tech.
